Local legends Mudhoney have announced that they’re releasing their 10th studio album on September 28 called Digital Garbage via Sub Pop. Alongside the announcement, they've shared the album’s lead single, “Paranoid Core.” The song, as well as the album, comments on the anxieties of the current state of the world. “I’m not on social media, so my experience is somewhat limited,” says Mark Arm. “But people really seem to find validation in the likes—and then there’s Facebook Live, where people have streamed torture and murder, or, in the case of Philando Castile, getting murdered by a cop.” Mudhoney will play Sub Pop’s 30th Anniversary Party, SPF30, on Saturday, August 11 at Alki Beach. Brother-duo The Lemon Twigs have announced their sophomore album, Go to School. Due for release August 23 via 4AD, the album follows 2016’s Do Hollywood. Late last night the band also shared a new song off the album titled “If You Give Enough.” The Lemon Twigs recorded the album in their Long Island home and features Jody Stephens (Big Star) and their father Ronnie D'Addario. Go to School is described as “the heartbreaking coming of age story of Shane, a pure of heart chimpanzee raised as a human boy as he comes to terms with the obstacles of life. Todd Rundgren and their real life mother Susan Hall play Shane's parents." [ Consequence of Sound ]

Yet another album announcement comes from singer-songwriter John Grant, who is releasing his fourth album, Love Is Magic, on October 12 via Partisan. Grant has also shared the album’s title track via a lyric video, as well as the track list, cover art, and upcoming tour dates. “Love’s a shitshow that requires work,” Grant says about the new song. “It’s not all lollipops and rainbows and ‘67 Dodge Dart Hemis and STD’s and macaroni and cheese and John Carpenter. But nothing can distract from the fact that, in spite of it all, love is still magic.” Love Is Magic follows 2015’s Grey Tickles, Black Pressure. [ Billboard ]

Radiohead lead guitarist and keyboardist, Jonny Greenwood, has become an aficianado of composition for film score and contemporary classical pieces. Today, he's shared sheet music for a piece called “88 (No. 1).” The composition is made for solo piano and has previously only been performed by a handful of selected pianists. Greenwood tweeted that “88 (No.1)” is “inspired by Glenn Gould and by the glorious mechanics of the thing.” Greenwood most recently did the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread. Daniel Lopatin is releasing a new Oneohtrix Point Never EP titled The Station next week. The four-track release contains three new songs and demo version of the Age Of track, “The Station.” Lopatin recently revealed that “The Station” began as a demo for Usher but was eventually rejected. The Station EP will be out digitally on July 27, with a seperate 12” vinyl version of the EP called We’ll Take It that swaps out “The Station” for the Age Of track “We’ll Take It.” Lopatin released Age Of early last month via Warp. [ SPIN ]
