After releasing two excellent EPs in 2017, Yaeji’s gone from packing out late-night dance parties in basement venues to headlining spaces like the Showbox in record speed. It’s no wonder why – her effervescent brand of house music blended with her vocals that swerve effortlessly between English and Korean is a marvel to listen to. Her musical output has been quiet throughout 2018, but recently she’s emerged once again. First by remixing Charli XCX’s “Focus” and now she’s returned with an original track of her own, “One More.”
The swooning rhythms, pulsing underneath Yaeji’s breathy auto-tune, hits all the high marks that made her EP2 pop up on so many year-end lists. The hypnotic production and dance rhythms are just the groundwork for Yaeji to open up with some of her most personal writing yet. She explains the song’s genesis in a press statement:
Listen to “One More” and her remix of Charli XCX’s “Focus” below. Yaeji is currently on tour, performing at Portland, Ore.’s Wonder Ballroom on Oct. 22 and Seattle’s The Showbox on Oct. 23.
