Pure Bathing Culture Announce New Album Night Pass, Share Lead Single

At long last, Portland’s Pure Bathing Culture have announced the follow-up to 2015’s Pray For Rain. Titled Night Pass, the record was produced by Tucker Martine and is out April 26 via Infinite Companion. The duo, made up of Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman, have also unveiled the lead single “Devotion.” The band told Stereogum this about the ‘80s-inspired dance jam:

“There are a number of songs on this album that involve one lover telling another that whatever it is they are up against, they can make it through it together, that they will support them in the process, that they want to inspire them through it. The verses of ‘Devotion’ in particular deal with someone who repeatedly feels unconfident or like they are left behind, but are inevitably saved by love. Devotion is the act of supporting each other and not giving up; it’s what makes things magic. When we come together and make something, when we put the stars in the jewels, when we repeat this over and over again, it’s all we can do. It’s the ritual that perpetuates love.”

Night Pass is Pure Bathing Culture’s third studio album and first with Infinite Companion. The band will be touring behind the record this summer, opening for Brooklyn indie-pop band Lucius for the first half and Midwest emo outfit American Football (interesting combination!) for the second. They'll play Seattle on their own though, on Friday, May 31 at the Columbia City Theatre.
