Welcome to Review Revue, where every Thursday I dig through the KEXP stacks to share DJ reviews and comments written on the covers of LPs (and occasionally CDs) in the ’80s and ’90s, when the station was called KCMU, the DJs were volunteers, and people shared their opinions on little white labels instead of the internet.
I believe this is the third Kate Bush album I've posted in as many years — and this is one that everyone knows, right? — so I don't feel the need for too much of a preamble here, but let's just say that the cover of The Sensual World again shows the deep love of KCMU DJs for Kate Bush. (And the deep, and warranted, crankiness of our friend Creed when it comes to people mishandling records.)

"This album is so good, it makes you turn the volume up, then it sounds better, so you turn it up more, and the production is so good, it doesn't hurt your ears, so you really turn it up then it really sounds good so you turn it up some more . . ."

"LUSH is right! Very predominant Middle Eastern flavour here. The inclusion of the Trio Bulgarka (on 3 tracks!) seems like the definition of great pairing. Maybe we'll see Kate on their next record, hmm? [Alas, I don't think that happened, but the Trio did show up again on Kate's The Red Shoes.] Dave Gilmour here too. 2.5 originally was on 'She's Having a Baby' soundtrack."
