The idea of “rock and roll” is so vast that it can be hard to define in 2020. But within one second of hearing Washington’s own Vanna Oh!, there’s no ambiguity – this could be nothing else but rock and roll.

Vanna Oh! Has caused quite a buzz locally with her feverish live performances where she’s constantly firing up the crowd with righteous riffs and harrowing howls. Last year she gave a demonstration of her prowess with the ripping Samples EP and now we’re getting another dose of her powerful performance with the monolithic “Chaperone.”

Noodling in on a blues riff, she quickly ups the ante with a cymbal sizzle and pounces right into a fray of guitar fury. Vanna Oh! Sings like she’s trying to get the folks across the street to hear every word. It’s a voluminous rallying cry, beckoning for a rainstorm of Rainier in an excited crowd. While the song may be called “Chaperone,” it’s clear she needs no guidance – she knows exactly what she’s doing.

Listen below and tune in to Audioasis on KEXP on March 14th to hear the track again on-air.
