No surprise, but Ty Segall has been keeping busy during the quarantine: in addition to his Live on KEXP at Home session (watch below!), he also released a Harry Nilsson covers EP earlier this year, titled Segall Smeagol, and he collaborated with Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale as Wasted Shirt. And now, he's announced the trio FUZZ (featuring himself, Charles Moothart, and Chad Ubovich) will release their first new album in five years titled III, out October 23rd via In the Red.
Hear the first single “Returning” below. Segall described it in a press release as an “auditory meditation on the power of one and the different perspectives of one, whether it’s the singular person looking inward or a group of people coming together as a single unit.”
The eight-track release was recorded and mixed by Steve Albini at Los Angeles' United Recording, who encouraged the band to focus on recording live-to-tape with minimal overdubs.
FUZZ have also announced their rescheduled tour dates for late 2020/early 2021, including a Wednesday, January 27th stop at the Neptune Theatre. Check out all the dates below, along with Segall's at-home KEXP session recorded back in May.
