Molina is the alias of Danish-Chilean producer and composer Rebecca Maria Stougaard Molina. This past October she released her debut album When you wake up on beloved Danish label Escho Records. An album long in the works, it's a record full of songs "focused on the accidental and immediate" that yields an absorbing and intimate listening experience. The album arrived in the midst of Molina touring extensively playing alongside her close friend and creative collaborator ML Buch, which included a stop at KEXP for a live session this past July.
Describing her mix with the words "sheer," "chopped," and "breeze," Molina's Midnight in a Perfect World mix is a fittingly adventurous and unpredictable journey through experimental art-pop, swirling shoegaze, buoyant indie pop and more, all held together by Molina's sharp ear for engaging and slightly askew sounds.
